Bottled Water Safety – Germies!

There was a group discussion being held at my work, all gathered around a couple of cubes, and we were talking about bottled water. At least two, maybe more, mentioned that they actually reuse bottles. If you don’t know what I mean, let me explain a little bit more. When you go to the store and buy water that is bottled, which is meant to be thrown away after its use, it is sometimes reused by certain individuals who then just fill the bottle back up again with either water again(from the sink, etc) or another beverage.

Now, I can understand doing this once, MAYBE even twice(yuck) but some people apparently do this again and again, for long periods of times. They reuse each bottle so many times, they lose count. I didn’t know people actually went to that extent! I suppose that’s why I’m writing this, maybe this is something all too common but I can’t understand how someone could do that.

I personally drink a bottle of water(or any beverage) and then immediately discard of the bottle and continue on with my day. I’ve never reused a bottle even once, nor plan on ever doing it. The fact is that plastic “contains” germs a lot more easily, unlike other substances such as glass, so even if you clean the bottle, every time you reuse that bottle more and more germs are building up. This also goes for the plastic cups that people seem to be fond of. In my opinion, more people should have glass rather than plastic cups, but obviously it’s their choice.

I tend to use plastic throw away cups, so I can discard of the cups I use at home, for other drinks that are in the fridge. I suppose there is a problem with that as well, considering you never really do know for sure where your cups have been or what it’s touched, even if it was packaged and processed, but I think I’ll continue to rely on them until I find a cheap, more germ-free, and easy way.

Is it just me or do others feel the same? Let me know!

I think so, but apparently many people don’t see the harm and do it, so who knows.
