Weekly Summary – May 13th, 2011

I took 3 days off of work this week, which actually lead me astray in some ways but in others it only served to increase my motivation. My diet got put on the back burner (not ruined, as I still ate clean), but my Fitness and Japanese got plenty of focus time. It allowed me to take some time to sketch up a plan of what I want to accomplish, what I need to do to accomplish those things, and then create a timeline to do em.

Japanese

As far as AJATT SS goes, we’re still in the immersion stage. One of the concepts we’ve been doing is Shadowing, which I’ll be covering/talking about early next week. Other than that, it’s all about just making Japanese a bigger piece of your life each and every day.

The few days off I took really allotted more time to studying Japanese, and it was a lot of fun. I’ve got a few posts that I think will be pretty good/useful that I’ve been working on. However, what I really need is more ideas for articles because otherwise I’m worried that I’ll push too many good articles out so fast, but then be left with not as much to write about. Here are my weekly stats:

Kanji: 972 / 2042 (RTK1 – 15 per day)

Core 2000: 250 / 2000 (10 per day)

Fitness

While I got set back because I ended up kind of going off my diet, even though I ate relatively clean, I also ended up getting a good amount of great rock climbing sessions in which helped balance things out in a way I suppose. Either way, sometimes a break is needed to give the mind a rest, but I’m not going to let my engine slow down any, I’m going to keep revving right along in high gear. Asylum isn’t going to get the best of me!

Here are my weekly stats:

Weight: 148 lb

Body Fat: 6.4% (4.1% in the morning – hydration fluctuates the value so much)

Calories per day: 2400

Even though I went up a few pounds (which is actually a good thing), most of it was probably just water weight from taking in a normal amount of carbs, compared to the very few carbs I normally get from being on the keto diet.

  1. haha I see your kanji is progressing, nearly at the 1000 mark!

How are you finding shadowing? I still find it too difficult^^” and I just blurt out w/e!

I’ve decided to get rid of my vocab ldeck and thought it would be much better learning vocabs in the sentences (context wise) which is better. Plus it cuts down my reviews and I was getting bored of doing it.

Anyways, looking forward to your future ideas!

    • Almost half way done with RTK1! ^^;

And yeah, Shadowing can be quite difficult. xD

I’m enjoying doing my Core 2k deck, but if you’re getting bored, it’s better to do something you consider fun instead. Once I finish RTK1, I’ll be starting sentences until we get to MCD’s via AJATT SS.

      ありがとうな!

      • I’m still wondering what MCD’s are…..

I recently unsubscribed to SS because of financial dealings. Once I get my money figured out, and I can find a way to get extra money, I may start SS again if it going well for you. Keep up the good work!

Plus I fell many days behind because I moved and had many things to do everyday. Some days I never even got a chance to view a computer, and other days very late when I was tired. Trust me, taking a break when I am tired just leads to sleeping and the cancellation of further progress for the day. Haha.

  2. Do you pay for Smart.fm? Or did someone export the Core 2000 thing off there?

    • Back when it was free, people took it and turned it into an ANKI deck. I like how iKnow(Smart.FM) works, but overall I like ANKI better. I’d give iKnow a try though if they ever got around to making an Android app.

See, for me.. I don’t even use ANKI on my PC at all. I simply always review from my phone, so having an app for my Android is not *useful*, it’s *required*.

Also, I find Kore a lot better than Core. It’s a modified version of Core 2k, which changes the order/progression of how the cards are shown. You can take a look here: http://forum.koohii.com/viewtopic.php?id=5301
